Bowens joins Rob Konrad and Mark Royals are Dolphins unrestricted free agents who have been re-signed, and that doesn't include Mark Dixon, who was re-signed the day before the free agency signing period began.
It was expected that Bowens might be tough to re-sign because of his desire for more playing time, and he was expected to meet with the New York Giants.
But the new deal means the Dolphins' depth along the defensive line will remain impressive. In addition to being a tremendous special teams player for a defensive end, Bowens also has shown flashes as a pass rusher.
Bowens was involved in a competition for the starting left defensive end job last summer before he broke his left thumb. With Adewale Ogunleye having a breakout season, Bowens won't be competing for a starting job this year, but he could wind up getting more playing time.
