Smith would be the sixth of the Dolphins' nine picks to sign, following Patrick Turner, Brian Hartline, John Nalbone, Andrew Gardner and J.D. Folsom.
The only remaining picks to be signed are first-round choice Vontae Davis, second-rounder Pat White and fifth-round selection Chris Clemons.
