Two Players Released

A little more than 24 hours after wrapping up their last minicamp of the offseason, the Dolphins decided they had seen enough of two players to reach the conclusion they weren't going to be a part of their team in 2009.

Punter Jy Bond and cornerback Scorpio Babers both were released on Monday.

Bond is an Australian native who was signed to a two-year contract in April after showing off a big leg in a workout. But he's also severely lacking when it comes to consistency, and it's clear he needs a lot more work before he has a chance at an NFL career.

As for Babers, he simply didn't show enough to justify keeping in a corps of cornerbacks that features a lot of competition, including first-round pick Vontae Davis and second-round pick Sean Smith.

The Dolphins wrap up their offseason work on Wednesday with an OTA session that will be closed to the media.
