Here's the book on Roberson: He originally was a seventh-round draft choice of Jacksonville in 2005. He played in six games in his rookie season after spending the first 10 contests on the Jaguars’ practice squad. He was credited with two tackles that year. He spent all of 2006 on Jacksonville’s injured reserve list with a shoulder injury before being waived in training camp last year.Collegiately, Roberson played at Eastern Michigan, where he played running back as a freshman, wide receiver as a sophomore and junior, and cornerback as a senior. He started 10 games in his final collegiate season as he recorded 66 tackles and a sack.
Babers, meanwhile, was among the players signed by the Dolphins after they participated in the rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.
“As we talked about the other day, it’s all part of trying to stir the bottom of the roster a little bit and trying to make the bottom of the roster a little bit better," said Coach Tony Sparano. "Roberson is a player that we knew a lot about certainly, and we kind of did him throughout the draft process and when we saw he was out there and available, we just thought this would be a good guy to bring in, work out and see what happens. He had a good workout for us and we ended up signing him and letting Scorpio Babers go.”
As for the possibility of signing Glenn, Sparano refused to speculuate.
“Right now any of those things are really hypothetical," he said. "From an interest standpoint, any of those things, it’s not worth talking about, until we get, if we get, down the road with any of those kinds of things. I’m worried about coaching the people that are out here on the field right now.”
