Taylor Headed to Washington
DE Jason Taylor
DE Jason Taylor

Posted Jul 20, 2008

The long-running soap opera involving Jason Taylor apparently has reached a sudden and unexpected conclusion. Taylor is heading to the Washington Redskins, who lost starting defensive end Phillip Daniels to a knee injury Sunday, according to Foxsports.com's Jay Glazer.

In return, the Dolphins will get a second-round pick in the 2009 draft. According to Glazer, the Dolphins and Redskins already have agreed to terms on the deal.

This was not necessarily one of the destinations mentioned most prominently for Taylor, but that changed when Daniels sustained whas has been described as a season-ending injury during a seven-on-seven drill.

The Dolphins' first training camp practice is scheduled for Saturday morning, and it was unclear whether Taylor planned to attend.

His desire to be traded was no great secret, even though he never came out during the offseason and flat-out requested to be shipped.

Likewise, the Dolphins said they wanted Taylor on the team, but also shopped him around during the draft. They just never got a team to accept their asking price of a first-round pick.

In the end, it appears a second-round pick was good enough to end what became a major topic of conversation in the offseason.
