Two To Go
DE Kendall Langford
DE Kendall Langford

Posted Jul 14, 2008

The Dolphins are now two players away from their goal of having all their draft picks signed by the start of training camp. The latest to come to terms was defensive end Kendall Langford, who signed a multi-year contract over the weekend.

The only two remaining draft picks to be signed are defensive end Phillip Merling and quarterback Chad Henne, the team's two second-round picks.

The Dolphins still have almost two weeks before the start of training camp.

Of the two, it's more critical that Henne be signed on time because any time he misses would diminish his chances -- which might not be that great to begin with -- of winning the battle for the starting quarterback job.

Merling also figures to battle for a starting job, at defensive end opposite Vonnie Holliday, but his position makes missed practices a bit more palatable.

The goal, however, is to have all nine draft picks signed by July 25, and the Dolphins now are seven-ninths of the way there.
