On if it was a little more relaxing for him today since he already knew where he was going: "You know, I was a little more relaxed knowing where I was going and just being here to make it official. So it was nice."
On what it felt like when his name was called: "That solidified it all. It was just breathtaking to walk out there and shake the Commissioner's hand and hold up that jersey. It was just a dream come true."
On his thoughts on the Jets fans booing and getting a taste of the rivalry already: "Yeah, I got booed pretty bad, but I'm excited for it."
On his thoughts on Vernon Gohlston being selected by the Jets: "You know, the Jets are getting a great player there. Throughout the offseason I got to know him and become friends with him. And I respect him as a person and as a player. I'm excited for the challenge to play him again."
On if he's talked any Dolphins players since he signed on Tuesday: "No. Tuesday, I flew in there, I signed the deal, and then flew right back out. So I didn't get to meet any of the players. But I'm going down next weekend for minicamp and will hopefully meet a lot of the players and I'm very excited about it."
On what the last few days for him have been like in New York City: "It's crazy here in New York. I've never been here, so it's a little bit of getting used to, but it's a great place and I've had a lot of fun with my family and friends and being able to hang out with all of the other players."
On if he's still hoping the Dolphins will draft QB Chad Henne, his teammate at Michigan: "Chad is a great player. Whatever team drafts him is going to get a great player and we'll see what happens and where he goes."
On if it took at all away from his dream of being the No. 1 pick in the draft the fact that he already knew today he was No. 1: "Not at all. I knew it early, but I'm still the number one pick. I wanted to get it done so I could just worry about football. I'm glad it happened like that. Still having my name called going out on that stage was still breathtaking. It didn't take away from it at all that I already knew."
On the first thing he is going to buy: "I don't know yet. I'm going to wait until I actually get some money, but I don't know what I'm going to buy yet."
On possibly buying a Ford pick-up truck: "Yeah, well, I always wanted a Ford. I like the new Ford so I will probably be getting one of those."
On having to get used to the speed of the NFL game: "Absolutely. It's so much faster at this level and that's one of the biggest things I'm going to have learn very fast and pick up on. I'm excited for that challenge and that's why I'm glad I don't have to worry about anything other than the football aspect."
On someone he's met in New York during his time there who has really impressed him: "Well, actually, all of the other five guys here I've known, throughout the All-American banquets and the college awards and all that stuff. And then I got to hang out with Vernon (Gohlston) and Matt (Ryan) out in Arizona when I was training for the combine. So we all knew each other and I think that's what made this week so much better is because we're so comfortable with each other and had a lot of fun."
On what he will do for the remainder of the day: "I'll probably just go back to my hotel room and hang out with my family. They made the trip out here and we're all going to enjoy it together."
On if it's just his parents with him in New York: "No, it's my parents, my two brothers, one of my buddies from back home, and my girlfriend."
On adjusting to life in South Florida coming from the Midwest: "Before Tuesday, I'd only been to Florida twice, and it's beautiful there. I'm excited to be there. The weather is something I'll have to get used to because I'm not used to playing in that type of weather, but that's why I'm going down next weekend to start to get used to it."
