Zach Trying To Stay Patient

Zach Thomas has no problem saying he's a very impatient person, which is what's making this season so very difficult on him. Thomas is waiting to get the green light to return to action, but after he sat out again on Thursday, it's not looking like it's going to happen this week.

After missing two games earlier this season because of a concussion sustained in the Week 2 loss to Dallas, Thomas has missed the last two games and Sunday's game at Philadelphia probably will make it three.

Thomas and Coach Cam Cameron both point out that Thomas' situation is day-to-day, but when asked Thursday about the likelihood he could be in uniform against the Eagles, Thomas said, "I don’t know yet. I don’t know yet. I’m sure it’s easy for y’all to figure out. It’s day-to-day, always. Either way, it’s going to pass and move on. So hopefully that’s soon, I’m just ready for this story to die. I’m ready for myself to be healthy, and that’s it.”

But Thomas hasn't been healthy. And even though the team first said he missed the Giants game because of whiplash sustained in an Oct. 21 car accident and he missed the Buffalo game because of migraines, Thomas says the issue is more basic, his head is just not right.

Thomas says he feels better than he did a few weeks back, but hasn't gotten the go-ahead because he's yet to go a full week without experiencing light-headedness.

At the very least, Thomas hasn't lost his sense of humor. When talking about the cognitive tests he's taking every week to make sure everything is fine, he said, "It’s got nothing to do with the thinking. It’s after you exercise, what you feel. Even though I sound a little slow and dumb right now, that’s just how I am. When I took that test, I lowered the standard.”

Along with Thomas, defensive end Matt Roth also missed practice on Thursday as he continues to nurse a groin strain.

Cameron said Rod Wright would take Roth's place in the starting lineup if he can't go.

Meanwhile, DE Jason Taylor (ankle) and DT Paul Soliai (illness) both were back at practice on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday, while NT Keith Traylor (ankle) did the full practice after being limited on Wednesday.
