Monday News and Notes

RB Ronnie Brown

It was some kind of hot at practice Monday morning, enough so that Coach Cam Cameron said he never experienced that kind of heat during his five seasons in San Diego. The heat, not surprisingly, took its toll, most notably on running back Ronnie Brown.

Brown took a knee at one point during practice and appeard to be affected by the weather. He said after practice, though, that it's only going to be beneficial in the long run.

"It was the first (practice) we had outside in full pads and it was pretty tough," Brown said. "It's still early in the season. Hopefully, when the season starts, it's going to prepare me and help me be in good shape."

Tough morning for QBs: Cameron said he liked the fact that his offense has to practice against one of the better defenses in the league, but he couldn't have been too happy to see his quarterbacks throw four interceptions in the morning practice. The four picks were divided among the four QBs, with Trent Green getting picked off by Travis Daniels, John Beck by Renaldo Hill, Gibran Hamdan by Channing Crowder and Cleo Lemon by Jason Allen.

OL outlook: The offensive line continues to have a strange look, with the first team featuring rookie Drew Mormino at right guard and Anthony Alabi at right tackle. Cameron, as he did Sunday, cautioned against reading anything into that because it's still very early in camp.

Injury update: The same as usual, with Andre Goodman and Joe Toledo still on the active/PUP list.

Roster moves: For those who missed it, the Dolphins on Saturday claimed tight end Courtney Anderson off waivers from the Oakland Raiders, and waived safety David Lofton to make room for him. Anderson's arrival means there are now six tight ends on the roster, the others being David Martin, Justin Peelle, Tim Massaquoi, Aaron Halterman and Jason Rader. Lofton is the son of Hall of Famer James Lofton.

Also this weekend, the Dolphins activated defensive tackle Brian Soi off the NFI/PUP list and he has been practicing with the team.
