Hadnot at Guard

The Dolphins have made it a point to get some versatility in their interior offensive linemen and have been using practice to take a look at guys at both center and guard. And after seeing Rex Hadnot at guard, Coach Cam Cameron has decided that's where he belongs.

"He's our right guard," Cameron said emphatically on Friday after the Dolphins wrapped up an OCS (offseason coaching sessions) practice.

Hadnot played center in college at the University of Houston, but his seven starts as a rookie in 2004 and his first 13 in 2005 came at guard.

After Seth McKinney was injured late in the 2005 season, Hadnot started the last three games that season at center and started there all of last year.

But Cameron thinks Hadnot is a natural for guard.

"Rex Hadnot can be as good a guard as I've been around," Cameron said. "I'm looking forward to watching his development.

"If the light comes on there, look out, because we'll have us a heck of a player at right guard."

Cameron also mentioned veteran offseason acquisition Chris Liwienski when he talked about the guard positions. With Hadnot no longer at center, the logical front-runner to start at center is second-round pick Samson Satele.

Cameron wasn't ready to announce anything Friday, pointing out that offseason pick-up Johnathan Ingram was doing a nice job at the position.

But being that the Dolphins did pick Satele in the second round, the best guess right now for a Dolphins starting offensive line would be Vernon Carey at left tackle, Liwienski at left guard, Satele at center, Hadnot at right guard and L.J. Shelton at right tackle.
