Three players cut
RB Lamar Gordon

Maybe it's a coincidence, but we're thinking we're less likely to see a lot of former LSU players on the roster now that Nick Saban is gone, and two such players were among the three released on Wednesday.

Those two were a pair of safeties, Jack Hunt and Norman LeJeune. Both had been signed to the active roster late last season.

Also released on Wednesday was wide receiver Chris Davis.

Also, the Dolphins signed tight end Aaron Halterman, who spent some time on the team's practice squad last year before ending the season on the practice squad of the Super Bowl champion Colts.

In former Dolphins news, offensive tackle Tony Pape, a former seventh-round pick of the Dolphins, was signed by the San Diego Chargers and will play in NFL Europe.

Also, running back Lamar Gordon was released by the Detroit Lions.
