The Dolphins began the process of making their final roster cuts when they waived four players late Friday afternoon.

Released were wide receiver Robert Baker, offensive lineman Anthony Cesario, and linebackers Scott Shields and Kevin Rollins.

Of those, the only one of note was Baker, and only because it happened so soon.

It had become pretty clear in the last week or so that Baker had little chance to beat out both consistent veteran and promising youngster Albert Johnson for the fifth wide receiver spot.

Baker had even suggested this week he didn't think things were looking good for him.

As for Shields and Rollins, they only stuck around this long because they carried roster exemptions because of their participation in NFL Europe.

The moves left the Dolphins with 64 players, meaning 11 more cuts have to be made by Sunday at 4 p.m.
