The Dolphins closed out their preseason with a 24-22 victory over the Chicago Bears Thursday night in a game that would have been exciting had it actually meant something.

The victory allowed the Dolphins to even their preseason record at 2-2 and snapped a five-game preseason losing record against the Bears.

The game featured more big plays than your typical preseason game, beginning with a successful onside kick pulled off by the Dolphins to open the game.

The Dolphins got touchdowns from Travis Minor (15-yard run), James McKnight (9-yard pass from Ray Lucas) and Obafemi Ayanbadejo (8-yard run) and a 34-yard field goal by Olindo Mare to close the drive that followed the onside kick.

After Mare's field goal, the Bears answered with an 80-yard touchdown pass from Jim Miller to Dez White to take a 7-3 lead, but the Dolphins took charge from there.

After Derrick Rodgers recovered a Miller fumble to give the Dolphins a first down at the Chicago 34-yard line, Minor capped a four-play drive by racing through a gaping line in the middle of the line of scrimmage.

McKnight's touchdown capped a 12-play, 80-yard drive and gave the Dolphins a 17-7 lead early in the second quarter.

Chicago closed the gap to 17-14 in the third quarter on Adrian Peterson's 2-yard run, but the Dolphins answered back with a 61-yard drive capped by Ayanbadejo's 8-yard TD run.

Chicago answered that score with Eric McCoo's 1-yard touchdown run, and the Bears then converted a two-point conversion to close the gap to within two.

But after stopping the Bears later in the fourth quarter, the Dolphins ran out the clock with three first downs, all produced by Ayanbadejo.
