Let's face it, Culpepper is a major upgrade over the quarterback Chambers has worked with since joining the Dolphins as a second-round pick in 2001.
In his five seasons, Chambers has caught passes from Jay Fiedler, A.J. Feeley, Sage Rosenfels and Gus Frerotte.
The best passer among that group has to be Frerotte, and in his one season in Miami Chambers had his first 1,000-yard season and he earned his first Pro Bowl invitation.
So who knows what Chambers might be able to do with a top-notch quarterback in the same offense.
Chambers, for one, sure is anxious to find out. He got a taste of what it was like to play with a big-time passer when he lined up with Peyton Manning and Trent Green in the Pro Bowl.
"Right then and there I knew there was a difference between some of the quarterbacks we had before and the ones at the elite level," Chambers said. "And (Culpepper) is right up there with them."
What has really impressed Chambers so far is Culpepper's arm strength.
"He throws a nice spiral, the best ball I've seen since I've been here," Chambers said. "I thought Gus threw a nice ball, too, but you do see a difference between an elite quarterback and everyone else.
"His arm strength is unbelievable. He puts the ball right on the money where you can just catch the ball and keep moving. We found that where we were doing stuff a month when we were just doing routes out here. You can tell it's a different type of ball. He knows when to throw it hard, he knows when to put touch on it."
With Frerotte at quarterback, Chambers caught 82 passes for 1,118 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. He also had the most productive day by an NFL receiver in 2005 when he caught 15 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown in Miami's 24-23 victory over Buffalo in December.
Chambers was rewarded for his performance by winning team MVP honors and earning his first selection to the Pro Bowl.
Making the Pro Bowl for the first time was nice, but what Chambers really wants in 2006 is another first — making the playoffs in the NFL.
"I don't even know if it really still hit me," Chambers said of making the Pro Bowl. "I just go about my business. I'm more concerned about winning games and making it to the playoffs.
"I haven't played in a playoff game, that's my biggest expectation of what I want to do. I think once we make it to that point, then I can kind of reflect on some other things and accomplishments."
