In a statement released by the Dolphins Thursday morning, owner Wayne Huizenga said, "We are confirming reports that an offer has been made to Nick Saban."It is believed the offer will be for the neighborhood of $4-5 million a year and Saban will be given full control of personnel matters.
That would signal the end of Rick Spielman's tenure as general manager, although it's possible he could be retained in another capacity.
The Dolphins presented the offer to Saban's agent, Jimmy Sexton, while Saban was in Baton Rouge continuing preparations for LSU's bowl game against Iowa on New Year's Day.
