Michael Thomas had the biggest play of the season.

Two days after the disappointing ending to the Dolphins' 2013 season, The Associated Press took a long back at the best and worst moments of the season.

Best Game: The Dolphins intercepted Tom Brady in the end zone in the final seconds to beat the Patriots 24-20 on Dec. 15. That snapped a streak of seven consecutive losses to New England, and left the Dolphins in control of their destiny in the race for the AFC's final playoff spot.

Worst Game: With a postseason berth on the line, the Dolphins squandered an early lead, committed three second-half turnovers and lost to the Jets 20-7 on the final day of the season.

Best Play: Michael Thomas' game-winning interception of Brady came in the safety's NFL debut five days after he was signed off the 49ers' practice squad. Thomas also broke up a potential touchdown pass in the end zone on the same series of downs, and was chosen AFC defensive player of the week.

Worst Play: Ryan Tannehill throwing long to Mike Wallace. They failed to connect time and time again, even though the speedy Wallace was repeatedly open deep. Wallace averaged 12.7 yards per catch and scored five touchdowns, both career lows.

Biggest Surprise: A bullying scandal threatened to derail the season and left two starting offensive linemen on the sidelines for the rest of the year. Tackle Jonathan Martin left the team and alleged he was harassed daily by teammates, including guard Richie Incognito, who has been suspended. The case is still under NFL investigation.

Biggest Disappointment: Defensive end Dion Jordan, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 draft, was limited to playing mostly in passing situations and totaled only two sacks.

What's Next: Owner Stephen Ross must decide whether to shake up a regime led by second-year coach Joe Philbin, who is 15-17 with Miami, and sixth-year general manager Jeff Ireland. Miami has gone five years without a winning season, a franchise first.
