There was no immediate reason known for Starks' absence. The Dolphins will release their injury report later in the afternoon, so perhaps that will offer an explanation.
Starks hasn't appeared on the injury report since the week of the Arizona game when he was limited in the Wednesday practice because of a knee problem and he took part in Monday's practice.
Perhaps the Dolphins' best player so far this season, Starks has 16 tackles, to go along with 3.5 sacks (second on the team) and his big interception in the third quarter of the victory at Cincinnati.
If somehow Starks is unable to play Sunday, his place in the starting lineup would be taken by Tony McDaniel.
Starks was one of two starters missing from Wednesday's practice, the other being cornerback Richard Marshall.
That one, however, wasn't surprising considering Marshall has missed the last two games with a back issue and he hasn't practiced since the Sept. 30 game at Arizona.
