A quick look across a wild and wacky division to see what's trending in the AFC East.
New York Jets
(2-3)
Last week:
The Jets were better than expected against the
Houston Texans
, but
J.J. Watt
batted down Gang Green's offense in a 23-17 Houston victory.
This week:
New York hosts the Andrew Luck-led
Indianapolis Colts
, who are coming off a big-time upset victory over the
Green Bay Packers
.
Notable note:
Gang Green's defense gives up third downs at a 49-percent clip, which is second worst in the NFL.
New England Patriots
(3-2)
Last week:
New England ousted Peyton Manning's
Denver Broncos
and took the lone lead atop the division.
This week:
The Patriots travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks' super-agressive defense, which has forced a league-high 11 fumbles.
Notable note:
Quarterback Tom Brady's squad leads the league in total offense, with the run game averaging 165.4 yards a contest.
Miami Dolphins
(2-3)
Last week:
Rookie quarterback
Ryan Tannehill
played it safe, and the defense was as good as advertised with Miami beating the
Cincinnati Bengals
.
This week:
A low-scoring bore-fest might be in the works here, with the Dolphins hosting the
St. Louis Rams
in a battle of good defenses and not-so-explosive offenses.
Notable note: The Dolphins boast the league's No. 1 run defense, giving up just 61.4 yards a game.
Buffalo Bills
(2-3)
Last week:
Buffalo got romped by the
San Francisco 49ers
, giving up a record-setting 621 yards on defense.
This week:
The Bills' underachieving defense end
Mario Williams
looks to finally break through against a porous
Arizona Cardinals
offensive line.
Notable note:
Buffalo has now surrendered 48 points to the Jets, 52 to the Patriots and 45 to the 49ers.
